Oak
Welcome to the Oak Class page!
S P R I N G T E R M
We had a wonderful Autumn term and the children are now well established with our routines and expectations. We have fostered a positive, confident and kind class family, and we are looking forward to the term ahead! Children start the school day with big smiles and look so smart. We are very proud of the super start the children have made to their learning journeys and we are looking forward to shaping them and imparting further knowledge during the Spring term.
I wonder what’s inside? |
Spring is the symbol for new life and opportunities, and we cannot wait for children to learn new skills, knowledge and techniques in the next weeks up to Easter. Our learning will stem from the question, I wonder what's inside?
The children will be using books as a vessel to learn all about different animals and environments. Each week we will read a text that will help children identify differences between animals in the animal kingdom. To spark their interest, children will return to school to find an unusual egg and a nest in the classroom! Who could have laid the egg and what might hatch? We will continue our journey to find out what animal might have laid an egg and which ones definitely could not have! Children will be encouraged to eliminate various animals from their enquiries along the way.
Let's talk reading!
Books are central to our learning within Oak class and they enrich our curriculum. This term we have carefully chosen some key texts, including non-fiction books, to help support our knowledge and expand our vocabulary. Please ensure books are embraced at home to help foster the love of reading that we champion at Fairfield. Do children have books that feature the animal kingdom? Can they look through their own personal libraries at home and select some to share with you? We will also be celebrating National Story-telling week 2025 this term, which we are very excited about! We will be inviting parents to come into school to read their favourite children’s story to the class!
PLEASE REMEMBER -
Forest School will continue to take place on Tuesday afternoons. Don't forget to pack more layers for your child now that the chilly months are approaching.
PE will be a Monday and Tuesday this first half-term. Can your child dress themselves in the mornings? This will help them on PE days!
